Deep in the heart of India’s largest state lies an abandoned ruin. Bhangarh Fort was once a thriving kingdom boasting temples, markets and a palace but now looms empty, forgotten by time. These days, locals and tourists roam the crumbling ruins, reveling in the history. But by night, the massive gate is locked, and the site is shut down. Legend claims that anyone left behind after the sun sets takes their life into their own hands. Because under cover of darkness, the spirits of the dead haunt the fort, preying on the living. Unseen presences, ghostly voices, physical attacks even demonic possession plague anyone fool enough to test the spirits. These tales have given the fort a reputation as one of the most haunted places in the world.

In the late 1980s, a series of polaroid photos hit the Florida papers, allegedly showing some of the clearest UFOs ever. The photographer, himself an alleged contactee, would become the center of one of the greatest debates in the history of ufology, drawing battle lines not only between skeptics and believers, but amongst the believers themselves. Even today, despite proof that the photos are fake, a legion of credulous individuals still consider the Gulf Breeze images some of the most valuable evidence of visitation from another world.

As an introvert that thrives on deep, meaningful conversation, I guess I’m a walking paradox. I grew up in a creaky old farmhouse in Upstate New York where I played with frogs and made all the adults call me Macgyver. When I was a kid, I saw something that looked like a sasquatch run through the swamp behind my house. I’m fascinated by what we think we see and what beliefs we hang on to, even as more information comes to us. Let’s get into it.
